I haven't written a post in awhile, because my life is extremely boring. Extremely. I had my 29th birthday a couple weeks ago. It's weird because I don't really feel any older than I did 9 years ago. Besides the fact that I can't remember anything anymore, that is.
Todd gave me a couple of games for my DS for my birthday (a couple weeks early). I've been spending too much time playing those, but have finally beat them both, so I expect to have more free time. That's a good thing, too, because Todd, Jenny, and my Dad also gave me books for my birthday and I need some time to read all those. I am very book wealthy right now.
Todd was taking a yoga type class in Asheville, NC a couple weeks ago, and I went up with him and hung out while he was in class. They have a couple vegetarian restaurants there, which was pretty cool. Asheville was stressful to me, though, at least to drive around in, because there are a lot of one way streets that take unexpected turns, narrow roads, people driving erratically, pedestrians popping out into the road from between cars, no parking, and lots of people begging for money. The natural scenary was very beautiful, but a lot of the buildings were kinda rundown and ugly. Mixed feelings about that town, but kinda nice to get away for a couple days.
That's about all that has happened to me lately. Oh, and today, a weird old guy said, "I bet you're the kind of librarian who, when you take off your glasses and take down your bun, looks like a supermodel." I didn't know if I should be complimented, insulted, or creeped out.

Horton Hears a Who
Okay, so I know I'm behind the times and everything, but I only recently found out about people using Horton Hears a Who as an anti-abortion propaganda tool. This makes me really, really angry. Horton Hears a Who *is* an excellent story and it carries an excellent moral message. It is not in any way about abortion, pro or con.
As far as I know, the public doesn't know for sure whether Theodore Geisel was pro-life or pro-choice, but based on his other beliefs, it is likely that he would lean toward pro-choice. How can someone take his creation and try to make it mean something it doesn't? It makes me furious. Write your own story. Tell your own story. Don't steal his story for your own personal use. Ridiculous!
